Supporting Prayer at Home

At St Cath’s, we believe prayer is a vital part of family life and an opportunity to grow closer to God together. We support parents and carers by providing resources and ideas that make prayer simple, meaningful, and accessible at home.

From seasonal prayer guides and scripture reflections to child-friendly prayers for everyday moments, we help families create space for God in their daily routines. Whether it’s saying grace before meals, sharing a bedtime prayer, or reflecting on the Gospel as a family, we encourage prayer as a natural and joyful part of life.

Our aim is to nurture faith beyond the classroom, helping children and families live out the love of Christ in their homes and communities.

Each week one child per class will be selected to take home our 'Prayer Bags'.  The content of these changes with the liturgical year. They include a cloth in the current liturgical colour, symbols of our faith and prayer books.  We hope that you will use them as a focus for praying at home with your child.  Please do email in pictures and feedback on how your family has enjoyed this experience.

In addition, as part of our faith journey at school, every Monday the children take part in a whole school Celebration of the Word based on the Mark10Mission programme. These special gatherings provide an opportunity for the children to pray, reflect on the Gospel, and deepen their relationship with Jesus.

To help extend this experience beyond our school celebrations, we will be sending home a Mission Pack each week. These packs are linked directly to that week's Celebration of the Word and are designed to encourage children to continue their faith journey at home, in school, and within their parish community.

Each Mission File Pack contains:

• A Mission File with activities and reflections linked to the week's theme
• A colouring page
• A 'Saint of the Week' page to help children learn about and be inspired by the lives of the saints

Our hope is that these resources will support meaningful conversations about faith and provide opportunities for children to continue responding to Jesus' call in their everyday lives.

We encourage you to spend some time exploring the Mission Pack with your child each week and to share in their reflections and learning.
