Phonics

Finding sounds in the potion.
Using super segmenting skills to spell words.
Dropping a marble to see which sound you get.
We aim to make phonics as fun and interactive as possible. This includes games, practical activities as well as actions and songs.

Reading

Reading is very important to us. We are developing a love for reading and often choose to read during our CHIL (child initiated learning) time.

Maths

Making our own patterns!
Making a pattern from the stacking cups.
Matching cubes to the numeral to feed to hedgehog.
Drawing and recognising shapes.
Ours maths is practical, we use concrete resources for children to explore and develop their learning with hands on experiences. It enables independence and our children are able to apply their skills during CHIL activities.

Child Initiated Learning (CHIL)

Most of our timetable consists of CHIL, it is where the children are given the freedom to explore the environment and access activities whilst also having the opportunity to create their own.

Creating beautiful African inspired patterns.
Using our imagination to make a car.
Listening to the sound of our voice through the tube.
Exploring capacity in the water tray.
A bit of yoga to chill.
Working on those physical development skills.
Performing a show for our peers!
Using chalk to create beautiful rainbows.

Outdoor Learning

We take every opportunity we can to explore our outdoor environment. That can be during forest school or visits to the farm as well as seizing the moment and child led interests to get outside.
